COMMANDER The Commander is the leader of the pack, the alpha. He has absolute power, and no one is equal to him, not even his mate. He makes the laws and everyone else follows them, or so help them. He is the strongest dog in the pack, for obvious reasons. Male
SECOND IN COMMAND The Second in Command is one of the strongest dogs in the pack, and the one the Commander trusts the most. If the Commander dies or is unable to lead, and the Heir is not ready to take on the responsibility, the Second takes over as Commander. Male or Female
COMMANDER'S HEIR The Commander's Heir is the dog chosen by the Commander to take over leading the pack when he's gone. Normally, this dog is the son or daughter of the Commander himself, but if the Commander has no children, or none are suitable, another dog can be chosen. The Heir is trained from a young age to understand the concept of leading, so that he or she will be ready when the time comes. Male or Female
COMMANDER'S MATE The Commander's Mate is an obvious title, she is the chosen mate of the leader. She is the Third in Command, some could say. She is the strongest female in the pack, and she is the only allowed to bear puppies. Any pack females wishing to have puppies must get her permission**. Female
SECOND'S MATE The Second in Command's Mate technically has no power, but their position is one of influence and respect. They are often viewed as an Advisor of sorts, a go-between for pack members and the high rankers. Male or Female, opposite of Second in Command
GUARD The Guard are the dogs that patrol the boundaries of the pack lands for trouble, and are the primary defense against enemies. These are the best fighters in the pack. Males and Females
HUNTERS Every dog is expected to be able to hunt their own food, but the most skilled hunters in the pack are assigned to catch at least one large animal a day. This way, everyone is guaranteed at least one meal, and anything more than that is up to each individual. If you're a poor hunter, you can probably make a bargain with one of the hunters to catch you something. For a price. Males and Females
SCOUTS The scouts are the dogs with multiple talents; they're excellent hunters, fantastic fighters, wonderful scavengers, and clever sneakers. They spend most of their time helping the Guard patrol and the Hunters hunt, as well as sift through the field looking for anything remotely useful to the pack. At times, they are called on to spy on the other packs and loners, to find out anything interesting. Males and Females
HEALERS Healers are extremely rare, but very, very valuable. They're dogs with knowledge of the healing trade, usually the former pet of a doctor, who picked up tips and figured out how to apply them to dogs. Some are strays who took the time to learn the useful properties of certain plants. Obviously none of them can stitch wounds or mix medicines, it's impossible to do those things with paws, but they can apply bandages, to some extent, and create crude salves by chewing the plants. Males and Females, Only Two will be Accepted
NURSEMAIDS The pack keeps two Nursemaids around to watch the pups while their parents are doing their jobs. These two dogs need to be responsible and caring, to look after all the puppies. Females, Only Two will be Accepted
YEARLINGS The yearlings are the year-old dogs, not puppies anymore, but not quite dogs. They are apprenticed to the Guard, Hunters, Scouts, and sometimes Healers, to teach them a trade that they can use in life. Once a yearling has finished his apprenticeship, which usually takes around a year, they are given the option to leave or stay with the pack.
PUPPIES Any dog younger than one year old.
ALLIES The packs and loners that would help the Krieger Pack in the event of trouble.
ENEMIES The packs and loners that would cause the Krieger Pack trouble.
**Don't worry about this, it's mostly for realism; packs of wild canines only allow the dominant female to bear offspring. However, any females in the pack can have pups, I'm not gonna keep that from you. Just remember that In Character, females do have to ask the Commander's Mate. To whomever someday plays the Commander's Mate, only refuse if the female in question has already borne two litters. You don't have to refuse, but that's the only time you're allowed to refuse.
